Asus ZenFone 3 Max (ZC553KL) Review

Asus has launched two variants of Zenfone 3 Max in India one comes with a 5.2-inch Display and other with a 5.5-inch Display powered by a Snapdragon 430 Processor. We have the 5.5-inch Variant of Zenfone 3 Max priced at Rs 17,999. Let’s see if it is worth the price tag in our Full Review.

Asus Zenfone 3 Max comes with a unibody metal design as compared to original Zenfone Max which has a plastic body. On the front, we have a 8 MP front-facing camera sensors, earpiece and notification LED. Below the display, there are three Capacitive buttons which are not  Backlit keys On the bottom there is Micro USB port and Speaker along with a microphone.

On the top, the phone is a 3.5mm audio jack. Volume rockers and the power button is on the right side of the phone. Coming to the left, we have SIM card slot device comes with Hybrid SIM  supports which means One SIM with MicroSD card or  Dual SIM card support.

On the back, we have a metal body design 16 Megapixel rear camera with Dualtone LED Flash and Fingerprint Scanner below there is Asus branding and antenna lines on top and bottom. Asus Zenfone 3 Max has a curved edge on the rear which gives it grip to use the smartphone in single hand.Zenfone 3 Max measures 151.4 mm x 76.24 mm x 8.2mm and weights 175 grams. On Design Zenfone 3 Max doesn’t impress we have seen Redmi Note 3, Le 2 smartphones with the same design.

Zenfone 3 Max features a 5.5-inch FHD (1920 x 1080) IPS display with 2.5D Curved Glass and creates a pixel density of 401 ppi similar to Zenfone 3 viewing angles is good in outdoor in direct sunlight conditions.

Asus Zenfone 3 Max is Powered by a 1.4 GHz Octa-Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 Processor with Adreno 505 GPU coupled with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage out of which 23GB is available for user device also supports MicroSD card up to 128GB. Zenfone 3 Max performance is fast we didn’t face any issue while normal use or while playing games. There was some heating and lag while playing high-end games for more than 15-20minutes. Asus Zenfone 3 Max performed well in our Benchmark test On AnTuTu Benchmark phonecore 44016 points, Geekbench 3 scored 635 on a single core and 1978 on a Multicore.

The overall performance of devices is good we can’t expect high-end performance from Snapdragon 430 Chipset as it is entry level processor

Coming to Camera  Zenfone 3 Max has a 16MP rear camera with  Dual LED Flash ., f/2.0 aperture and 8MP front camera.  The phone also comes with camera modes such as Auto, Manual, HDR Pro, Beautification, Super Resolution.Low Light, QR code, Night, Effect, Selfie, Panorama,Time Lapse and more modes.Zenfone 3 Max can record videos up to 1080p at 30 fps. 16MP rear camera on Zenfone 3 Max produces good images in Outdoor and indoor condition but struggles in a low light condition in Auto mode yes with the use of Manual mode we can capture good pictures. As always front camera performance is good. Both camera performance is good it could have been better at the price point Zenfone 3 Max is available.

Asus Zenfone 3 Max has a fingerprint Scanner on rear similar to Zenfone 3 which is fast and responsive it can also allow users to take call or capture images using fingerprint scanner we can add up to five fingerprints .check out how to setup fingerprint scanner and its working in below video

Asus Zenfone 3 Max  (ZC553KL) runs on  Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow with Asus own ZenUI 3.0 on top of it. It comes with a lot of pre-loaded apps which can be uninstalled.Asus has include power & Boost app which clears the memory of apps which are not in use. The overall software is fast and we didn’t face any lag. Rest all Zen UI features are similar to other Zenfone series smartphones.

On Connectivity devices include 4G VoLTE Bluetooth, Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n/ac, ,GPS/A-GPS, and Glonass. Dual SIM device supports Hybrid SIM and MicroSD card up to 128GB. Speaker output on Zenfone 3 Max is clear when the volume is full but when Volume is little bit low sound is less . Speaker output could have been better output via the headphone jack was loud and clear ,Sound on calls there was no issue device supports VoLTE which works fine with Reliance Jio calls also worked for us without any issue both SIM support 4G SIM. Coming to Battery Asus Zenfone 3 Max is packed by a 4100mAh Battery which is lesser compared to the original Zenfone Max. Zenfone 3 Max is able to deliver battery life up to 2 days on normal use which on heavy use and Dual SIM 4G support we got a battery life of about one and half day with Screen on time of around 6-7hours.Yes, the battery life of Zenfone 3 Max is as it comes with Full HD Display.

Zenfone 3 Max offers Full HD Display, Snapdragon 430 chipset powerful battery life, and a better camera at Rs 17,999 yes it looks overpriced when Lenovo K6 Power and Redmi 3s Prime has similar Specs priced under Rs 10,000. Price point at which Zenfone 3 Max is available we have other options like Le Max 2 and Lenovo Z2 Plus which offer higher end Snapdragon processor.
