Fitbit today introduced Blaze, its latest smart fitness watch at the CES 2016. It has a color touchscreen with a variety of clock faces, automatic exercise recognition, tracks steps, distance, calories and floors climbed, keeps tabs on your sleep, and can wirelessly sync with your phone or computer. It also offers smartphone notifications and music controls once connected to a smartphone, similar to the Fitbit Surge. You can also accept and reject calls directly from Fitbit Blaze when connected to a compatible smartphone.
It also supports personal training app FitStar that offers Connected GPS, PurePulse heart rate tracking, Multi-sport mode and SmartTrack automatic exercise recognition to help motivate. It has a slim design, interchangeable bands and frames. It promises battery life of up to 5 days on a single charge.
Speaking at an unveiling ahead of the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, Fitbit chief executive and co-founder James Park said the new device “strikes a balance between fitness and style.” The Blaze contains a module that can be linked with smartphones running Apple, Android or Windows systems and removed to snap into different bands for workouts, the office or nights on the town, Park said. “It puts fitness first and has the right set of features that don’t overwhelm the user,” he told the news conference.
Fitbit led the global market for wearable tech devices in the third quarter with a 22.2 percent market share and unit sales of 4.7 million, according to research firm IDC.
Fitbit blaze comes in black, blue, and plum band options, is priced at $199.95 (Rs. 13,310 approx.), available for pre-order starting today and will be available starting in March 2016. The Classic high-performance elastomer bands available in black, blue and plum is priced at $29.95, Luxe genuine leather bands with stainless steel display frames in black, mist grey and camel are priced at $99.95 and the Luxe stainless steel link band with a stainless steel display frame in silver is priced at $129.95.
