itel mobile sold over 1 Million handsets in India

itel has announced the successful sale of more than 1 m handsets within India. What makes the feat more impressive, however, is the fact that itel achieved the milestone within couple of month of its operational launch.

The 15 products launched so far include eight feature phone and seven smartphones and are aimed at empowering the country’s aspiring consumer base with value-plus mobile-based connectivity solutions.
itel Mobile forayed into the Indian market with a variety of reliable and trendy communication devices, which include feature phones priced at less than INR 2000 and value-added smartphones available for less than INR 10000. Currently operating in 11 states in North India including Uttar Pradesh East, Uttar Pradesh West, Gujarat, Jammu and Kashmir, Bihar, Jharkhand, Punjab, Uttarakhand, Delhi, Rajasthan, Haryana and Himachal Pradesh, the brand has gained a significant foothold.

Speaking on the milestone, Sudhir Kumar, CEO, itel Mobile India, said, “itel was launched in India to eliminate the technological disparity that exists between the urban and the rural geographies. The impressive response that we have received within such a short duration since our launch underlines the efficacy of our brand’s value-plus approach in the Indian market. We would like to thank our partners and consumers who made this feat possible for us. We are confident of devising and launching even more innovative offerings that will empower the Indian consumer and give India the boost it needs to evolve into a completely digital economy.”

itel currently has tie-ups with 325 distributors in the country and the number of itel retailers stands at around 25000. The brand aims to take the number of distributors to 1,000 and retailers to 80,000 by the end of this year in order to provide a larger consumer base ready access to its value-driven offerings. With a view to enhance the ownership experience, itel Mobile will also open 1,000 service centres across the country by the end of 2016. Consumers currently enjoy a 100-day replacement warranty offering on all itel products, a unique facility in the mobile handset space in India.

Further building on the impressive show of phase 1, itel will venture into other key Indian geographies such as Maharashtra, West Bengal, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Orissa and North eastern states as a part of its strategic expansion by August. itel will now look to launch a slew of products going forward and sets its sights on achieving the milestone of selling 2 Million handsets per month by Diwali this year.

Brand itel has recently ranked as 51st in Brand Africa 100 Most Admired Brands 2015 by Africa Business Magazine, Africa’s largest business magazine. The distinction was achieved for its contribution in improving the lives of the African people.
