MIUI 8 Global Beta ROM Released – Features and Changelog

As announced earlier Xiaomi today rolled out global MIUI 8 beta ROM v6.7.5 for Redmi Note (3G and 4G), Redmi Note Prime, Redmi 2 and Mi Max (32GB) smartphones.



MIUI 8 brings several new features such as redesigned colors, new Gallery app, Mi cloud photos, Scrolling screenshot, Dual apps to use two accounts in all your apps and dual space to manage work and personal profiles, new Calculator app with advanced calculations and conversions, Floating ball to add your favourite apps and frequent actions  for better one-handed control, MIUI caller ID to identify numbers from Amazon, Swiggy, Dominos, Zomato and more, T9 Hindi keyboard, Mobikwik integration and more.

MIUI 8 Beta ROMs for these devices are available for download from the MIUI forum  Xiaomi said that it will roll out MIUI 8 ROMs for Mi 2/2S, Mi 3, Mi 4, Mi 4i, Mi 5, Mi Note, Redmi 1S, Redmi 2 Prime, Redmi Note 2, Redmi Note 3 (Snapdragon 650) gradually. Xiaomi already promised that it will release global stable ROMs starting from August 16th, 2016

video editing with cropping, adding filters, captions and music
Mi cloud photos: Local high-res previews, sync full-sized photos to Mi cloud
Scrolling screenshots: To capture screenshots of whole page
Dual apps: Let you use two accounts in all your app and dual space to manage work and personal profiles without having to log in and out
New Calculator: Advanced calculations and conversions
MIUI caller ID: Crowd sourced caller ID to identify numbers from Amazon, Swiggy, Dominos, Zomato and more
T9 Hindi keyboard
Mobikwik integration: For mobile and DTH recharges
SMS: Now has tags for different messages from Flipkart, HDFC Bank, Vodafone and more, Add booking to calendar
Power saving mode: Freezes background app activity, suspends syncs, updates and background tasks
Limits chain start-ups: Prevents unessential apps from starting up, reduces lags and power consumption



How to Upgrade to MIUI 8

For MIUI Global Alpha ROM users, please flash back to the lastest MIUI Global Developer ROM to get OTAs.
For MIUI Global Developer ROM users, you will get MIUI 8 OTA update notifications on your phone. Or you can click ‘Updater’ app to check for updates. Don’t forget to backup data before upgrading.
