Nokia brand’s return to smartphones in 2017

Nokia is holding an event at MWC 2017 where company is expected to launch Android Smartphones and tablet. Nokia has been wokring on High end Android smartphones we have also seen Nokia D1C budget smartphone running on Android Nougat

Nokia D1C will be powered by 1.4 GHz Octa Core Snapdragon 430 Processor with 3GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage . On Camera it has a 16 MP rear and 8MP front facing camera.

These two smartphones will run Android Nougat out of the box.One of them will be smaller and may have a display size of around 5.2-inch and the bigger one may have a display size of 5.5-inch. Fingerprint scanner may be part of the high-end features on these two.  will support 2K resolution and adopt AMOLED panels, and runs Android N series (built-in Nokia’s own Z-Launcher UI). All-metal design, Snapdragon 820 processor expected to launch in China first

Mike Wang, president of the joint management team at Nokia China has confirmed that a total of 3 to 4 Nokia is expected to launch new device at MWC 2017

okia confirms that the strategic agreement covering branding rights and intellectual property licensing with HMD Global Oy (HMD), originally announced on May 18, 2016 has come into force.

HMD has today announced the completion of transactions between HMD, FIH Mobile Limited (a subsidiary of Hon Hai Precision Industries trading as Foxconn Technology Group) and Microsoft, which means that HMD can begin operations as the new home of Nokia phones, under an exclusive global brand license1 for the next ten years.

Nokia branded feature phones remain one of the most popular choices of mobile phone in many markets around the world today and HMD will continue to market them as part of an integrated portfolio, alongside a new range of smartphones and tablets to be announced later by HMD.

Under the agreement, Nokia will receive royalty payments from HMD for sales of every Nokia branded mobile phone and tablet, covering both brand and intellectual property rights. Nokia is not an investor or shareholder in HMD.

Brad Rodrigues, interim president of Nokia Technologies, said: “We’ve been overwhelmed by the enthusiasm shown around the world for the return of the Nokia brand to smartphones. The HMD Global team has the ambition, talent and resources to bring a new generation of Nokia branded phones to market, and we wish them every success.
