OnePlus 2 is coming and it looks like the company is really aiming to hit it out of the ballpark when it comes to specifications. Carl Pei and the team at OnePlus took to Reddit as part of an AMA session ahead of the launch scheduled for 27th July. While OnePlus has been regularly providing weekly updates about the specifications of phone, the AMA resulted in some additional information regarding the battery unit on the handset.
In response to a query about expected battery life on the upcoming phone, David S. of OnePlus replied that the OnePlus 2 will have a 3300 mAh battery. Compared to the original OnePlus One and its 3100 mAh battery this represents a 10% improvement. This combined with the faster and more efficient LPDDR4 RAM onboard, there’s a good chance that standby times should be decent enough.
The company also revealed that three different variants will be available and they will essentially be catering to three major markets. The differences between them are likely to be just network related. The Europe/Asia model should support WCDMA bands 1/2/5/8, and FDD-LTE bands 1/3/5/7/8/20 while the North American model will support WCDMA bands 1/2/4/5/8, and FDD-LTE bands 1/2/4/5/7/8/12/17. As CEO Pete Lau has already declared, the phone will remain priced lower than $450 and the original OnePlus One will continue to be on sale.
