Samsung Note 2 catches fire on flight to Chennai

Samsung has recalled Galaxy Note 7 Due to Battery we have seen many Galaxy Note 7 smartphones explodes recently now  a  Samsung Galaxy Note 2 smartphone caught fire inside an Indigo flight bound to Chennai from Singapore on Friday.


It is not yet clear whether the phone was switched off, in airplane mode or was left on by the passenger. DGCA has summoned Samsung following this issue.





“The crew noticed smoke from the bin and found the device was emitting smoke after possibly catching fire. They used fire extinguishers on it,” a DGCA spokesperson was quoted as saying in the report. According to the DGCA spokesperson, all airlines have been asked by the authority to instruct their passengers to turn off their Samsung Galaxy Note devices during flight.

The DGCA had said in an advisory two weeks ago that Samsung Galaxy Note7 phones must be kept switched and not used on board aircraft after a series of reports of the phone’s battery exploding in other countries. This is the first incident of a Samsung device catching fire on a flight in India.

A Samsung spokesperson said in a statement, We are aware of an incident involving one of our devices. At Samsung, customer safety is our highest priority. We are in touch with relevant authorities to gather more information, and are looking into the matter.
