Apparently, the new headphone jack will be quite different to the USB Type-C port that has been incorporated on many recent Android smartphones, including the Moto Z and Moto Z Force. Samsung’s strategy will be aimed at creating an easy and cost-free or extremely low-cost licensing so that other manufacturers of Android smartphones would be encouraged to adopt it.
Samsung could release an adapter in order to tackle potential issues regarding incompatibility with the new headphone jack. Apple adopted a similar strategy with the release of its latest smartphone, the iPhone 7. The company decided to remove the headphone jack completely, which took the whole market by surprise.
