Xiaomi Mi 4i gets OTA Update to Fix Overheating Issues’

Xiaomi has rollout  an OTA (over-the-air) update for Mi 4i users in India this week. The system update (V6.5.5.0) is said to bring a fix for overheating issues.

Xiaomi India initially started rolling out the OTA update (V6.5.4.0 LXI) to the Xiaomi Mi 4i late last week; though cancelled the update as many users faced new issues after updating to the latest system update. We started rolling out this OTA as V6.5.4.0 last week, but some users reported a minor issue related to the power button, so we created a fix over the weekend and resumed the roll out today..As the update is via OTA, user will get a notification when the update arrives on their smartphone. However, one can even alternatively check manually in the Settings menu to see if they have received the update or not.

We’ve heard from some Mi 4i users that their devices can get warm under more strenuous conditions such as complex 3D gaming for extended periods of time. To address these concerns, we’ve optimized our thermal control algorithms to better regulate the temperature. The new thermal controls adjust frequency, voltage and the number of cores in use depending on the chipset temperature.

Xiaomi Mi 4i smartphone features a 5-inch IPS fully laminated display  1920 x 1080 with Corning scratch resistance glass protection It is powered by a 1.7 GHz Octa-Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 with  Adreno 405 GPU coupled with 2 GB of RAM.It comes with 16 GB of inbuilt storage out of which 12.77GB is available for user to use further which cannot be expandable via MicroSD card.

The Dual SIM device runs on MIUI 6 top of Android 5.0 out-of-the-box.It sports a 13MP rear camera and two-tone LED flash. and a 5MP front-facing camera with f/1.8 aperture and 80-degree wide-angle lens.  On Connectivity options on the device include: 5MP front-facing camera with f/1.8 aperture and 80-degree wide-angle lens .The device is backed by a 3120mAh battery with quick charge support, which can charge the battery to 40 percent in an hour, and full charge in three. As per the company, the battery is good enough to survive up to 1.5 days.
