Xiaomi Mi Protect insurance service launching in India soon

Xiaomi is all set to introduce new Mi Protect insurance service plans that will cover Mi devices in case of accidental and liquid damage, offer free home pickup and drop, and free second servicing within 1 year from activation. These plans will be priced at Rs. 275 for Redmi 2 and Redmi 2 Prime smartphones and it will cost Rs. 499 for Mi 4i, Mi 4  and Mi Pad. It is no clear if the company plans to launch it for other devices such as Redmi 1s and Redmi Note. This was first spotted by BGR.in.

insurance will be covered if the damage to the phone is caused by Falling, Extrusion, Collision or Liquid if the device is under protection and the request is raised within the specified period of time, said Xiaomi. After the request is raised through toll free number (1800 407 333 333, 1800 123 3330 or 0 8080 333 333), OneAssist team will verify if the damage is genuine and is covered under these scenarios before picking it up.
