Xiaomi phones may soon sell at local retail stores


It looks like Xiaomi is all geared up to boost its retail presence in India with wider availability in physical retail stores.According to sources, the Chinese giant is in talks with leading distributor Redington to expand its offline retail presence.

Earlier, Mumbai-based mobile phone retailer Mahesh Telecom posted on social media networks that Xiaomi phones will be soon available offline. He also posted the offline store pricing of the phones, informing that the Redmi 2 will retail at Rs 5,999, Mi 4 at Rs 14,999, Mi 4i at Rs 12,99 and Mi Pad tablet at Rs 12,999.
Xiaomi had earlier tied-up with smartphone retail chain The Mobile Store to sell select models of its phones offline. The company also sells some 4G-enabled models through Airtel outlets.
Xiaomi is hosting an event at Vishakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, on August 10, where it is expected to unveil the Redmi 2 Prime, an updated version of the Redmi 2 that comes with 2GB RAM and 16GB internal storage. Other specifications are same as that of the Redmi 2. The phone’s pricing is expected to be similar to the Redmi 2’s launch price. The phone was briefly listed on Amazon India today.
