Xiaomi unveils MIUI 8

Xiaomi today launched MIUI 8. BETA registrations for the MIUI 8’s China ROM will commence from May 16 and the Beta testing will start from June 1. The developer ROM will roll out from June 17. MIUI 8 will also provide a number of different colour options at a system level, which was previously available only in orange and red shades. MIUI 8 will also pack in a wallpaper carousel, which includes 12 categories of wallpapers to choose from.

 

Xiaomi has also released the list of compatible devices which will support the MIUI 8. The list includes, Mi 2/2S/3/4/4C/4S/5/Max and the ROM will also be supported by all the Redmi and Mi note series of smartphones.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

MIUI 8 also packs in a new set of fonts, featuring primarily the Mi Lanting font, which the company claims to provide a soothing reading experience. The company touts that the gallery on the MIUI 8 is 90 percent more space efficient and will let you share the images on-the-go. It also packs in features to edit images and videos on the device with ease. Moreover, the gallery on the MIUI 8 will let the user select multiple photos, doodle the images, and add stickers to them.

 


MIUI 8 will feature all new animations and can also be protected by a password or fingerprint security. The calculator on this latest OS will bundle advance calculations and conversions. The scanner on the MIUI 8 can not only scan the codes but can generate a quick QR code for WeChat wallet and Alipay. The user can also scan the barcodes to search the product online and make a purchase. The all new Snap-and-Shop feature will enable a user to click a picture of the item and search for the similar item online.

There are also a few applications integrated into the MIUI 8 for learning purpose. One of these apps helps students solve their math problems by just scanning the problem to get a step-by-step solution. There is an enhanced battery saver mode, which limits the chain startup of applications.

MIUI 8 also packs in multi-window management option, which is similar to the multi-tasking in stock Android. The new OS will now not only scan an OTP automatically but will also detect the spam and fraud messages in the device.

According to the company, MIUI 8 is a mature, beautiful and easy-to-use operating system. The MIUI 8 for Xiaomi’s smartphones comes with a long list of updated features.
