The smartphone’s sturdiness and survival capabilities are one of its USP, and to highlight this, CEO Rahul Sharma puts it through an extreme drop test.
Sharma starts out by saying that the Yureka Plus screen is protected by Gorilla Glass 3, while the body is protected by reinforced chassis and a sturdy polycarbonate back panel. To highlight its toughness, Sharma drops the phablet from various heights and onto different kinds of surfaces. The Yureka Plus survives it all without a scratch.
The extreme drop test sees Sharma drop the Yureka Plus from the top of his office terrace, which is at a height of about 60 feet. The back panel breaks open on impact, and the battery falls out as well. On examining the device, a part of the screen is shattered, but the smartphone is still in working condition.
Also on offer are 13-megapixel rear camera, 5-megapixel front-facing camera, 2,500mAh battery, and connectivity options like dual-SIM card slots, 4G LTE support, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. On the software front, it runs on Cyanogen OS 12 based on Android Lollipop.
The smartphone is priced at Rs 9,999, and will go on sale via Amazon India on July 24. Registrations for the first sale kick off today.
