Coolpad Note 3 Lite Review : Budget smartphone with Fingerprint Scanner

Coolpad launched Note 3 Lite in India, a smaller version of Coolpad Note 3 launched in India last year. Coolpad Note 3 Lite offers some similar such as 3GB RAM, a fingerprint scanner. Design & Display

Let’s talk about design and display Note 3 Lite is made up of plastic body which similar to the Coolpad Note 3 with curve back and a. golden color metal rim that gives a stylish and premium look to it.It has a 5-inch display with 720×1280 pixels resolution and comes with with a NEG glass protection which is scratch proof.The display offers vibrant color reproduction along with the good level of brightness. The display is also responsive and gives good visibility under bright sunlight The viewing angles are also good.

On Front is has a 5MP front-facing camera earpiece at center and there are some other sensors Notification LED next to it. There are three capacitive touch buttons on the bezels below the display. The micro USB slot is present on the bottom and the 3.5mm audio jack is present on the top. The power button is present on the right side. The left side of the phone has the volume rockers. The phone has a 13MP rear camera with LED Flash. The fingerprint scanner is present below the camera lens. It has a plastic body with has a soft matte finish and has Coolpad branding at the lower back along with the loudspeaker grill. The phone measures 140.8 x 70.4 x 8.9mm and weighs 152g and can be used in one hand. Overall the build quality and design of note 3 is good and feels good.

Performance

Coolpad Note 3 Lite is powered by a Quad-Core 64-bit MediaTek MT6735 processor with 3GB of RAM out of which around 2GB is available on first boot and 16GB of internal storage which is expandable up to 64GB with microSD card support. Out of 16GB around 10.46GB is available for users there is also option to move apps to microSD card. we tried running some benchmarks apps on Note 3 Lite. On GeekBench 3 phone scores 623 on single core and 1777 on Multi core. On Quadrant standard phone score 12599 points.On AnTuTu Benchmarks Phone scores 32361 points. Also played some games like Asphalt 8, Real racing 3, Death Moto, Temple Run 2 we did not face any lag while playing but devices get heat up while playing some high end. While using other apps or playing normal games we didn’t notice any heating issue, Performance of device is up to mark at the price it is available

Camera

Coolpad Note 3 Lite has a 13MP rear camera with LED Flash f/2.0 aperture and a 5MP front facing camera. The rear camera can record 1080P videos and front camera can record 720P videos.It has tapped to focus, quick shutter speed and records video @ 30 frames per second. The images turned out to be quite good in broad daylight. camera app comes with some modes such as Face Beauty, HDR, Dimlight, Smile shot, panorama, Gesture shot. Pro mode allows to use optional features like white balance, exposure, ISO using an interface The camera sample captured from rear camera are quite decent produces good colours in both day light as well Low light. front camera performance is improved as compared to front camera of Coolpad Note 3.You can also make use of the fingerprint sensor to click selfies, which makes it much easier to capture some of your great selfies and groupfies. The fingerprint sensor works like a shutter release button and you just need to tap on it once for clicking selfies.

Software

Coolpad Note 3 Lite runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop operating system topped with the Cool UI of the company.It also comes with customised system apps along with some third party apps. supports multiple drawing gestures to open the desired app directly from the lock screen. lets talk about the software and fingerprint sensor in details The UI works fine with No lag. there are several preloaded apps such as Facebook, Amazon, WhatsApp, WeChat, WPS Office, Xploree, Cool Service and Cool Store, Xploree. Cool services apps give details about the service centers available across india. The phone comes with their own cool store where we can download some apps such as Quickr, Turbo Cricket, and Wikipedia. now talking about the notification panel there are some usefull shortcut such as C button which works as shortcut button when you enable it there will small C logo on the Display click it to use shortcuts such as screenshots, power button, restart etc .user interface is very smooth and works fluidly without any lags.

Scanner

Coolpad Note 3 Lite comes with a Fingerprint scanner which is available in some high-end devices. It comes with a fingerprint scanner which is located below the rear camera which is quite accurate and works fine, we can also use to capture photos, receive phone calls, record call using fingerprint scanner. Total 5 fingerprints can be used. There is another cool feature which is FP Lock which allows to choose a fingerprint scanning option to apps which means no one other than you can open and use the app which is really interesting feature available on such a budget smartphone. Overall performance of fingerprint scanner works fine and helps user to maintain their security

Connectivity & Battery

On connectivity, it include 4G LTE / 3G HSPA+, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS. Two micro SIM cards and the microSD slot are present under the back cover. The device supports MicroSD card up to 64GB also supports OTG. Both SIM cards support 4G . Sepaker output is quite loud and clear when volume is full but when we decrease the volume the sound output is quite low which is one of drawback . Overall sound quality on voice calls and speaker output is clear when volume is full.

Coolpad Note 3 Lite is packed by a 2500mAh battery smaller than Note 3. which is Non-removable we easily got a full day of usage out of it. In Normal use and 12 hours of battery back up while playing games, using the web, watching movies, etc. we got a screen-on time of 4-5 hours. there is fast charging mode available it took more than 3 hours to charge from 0-100%. there is also some power-saving modes available.

Verdict

Coolpad Note 3 Lite comes in Black and Champagne White colors priced at Rs 6,999 with 3GB of RAM fingerprint scanner at Back and 3GB RAM. Build and design of the smartphone is good at the price it is available. display provide decent viewing angles.Fingerprint sensor is fast and responsive. the camera captures decent images. This could be one of the best sub 10k smartphone of the year. if you are looking for high-end specs at a budget price Note 3 Lite is a good option to buy
