HTC Desire Eye Review

HTC smartphones always come with an innovative design and good features.HTC launched Desire Eye smartphone in India last year. HTC was the first company to launch a smartphone with 13 Megapixel front facing camera for selfies which were followed by other companies like Micromax and Asus. Here is a review of HTC Desire eye.
Design
HTC Desire Eye has a multi-colored body with the sides showing a vibrant color. The material seems to be a soft plastic that is good to touch. The quality of plastics is exceedingly good. The front of the phone has a  5.2 inch Full HD display with a Gorilla Glass 3 coating on top of it.Above and below of screen there is quintessential HTC BoomSound speakers.

Desire Eye has a front facing camera has a whopping 13MP sensor and is accompanied by a dual LED flash. The power and volume buttons are on the right, where you also have a dedicated camera button below.

On the left, it has flaps for the nano SIM and SD card slots. These flaps aren’t the easiest to remove but then again.

The micro USB port is along the bottom edge of the phone while the 3.5mm headphone jack is along the upper edge.

The back of the phone is discrete for the most part with the 13MP rear facing camera placed along the top left corner. The camera module has a chrome ring running around it. The slightly recessed module should be able to avoid scratches for the most part. The dual LED flash placed below the camera module is of the dual tone variety and comes with IPX7 ratings for water resistance. It has matte polycarbonate back and the HTC branding is seen in the middle. The phone measures 151.7 x 73.8 x 8.5 mm and weighs 154 grams. It is easy to handle the phone in one hand in spite 5.2-inch display.Desire Eye is IPX7 certified which means that it can be submerged in 1m of water for up to 30 minutes.

Display

HTC  Desire Eye has a with a 5.2-inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) Full IPS HD display with Corning Gorilla glass 3 protection. The screen displays excellent contrast levels and the blacks are as deep as they go on an LCD panel. Sunlight readability was good. The pixel density of the HTC Desire Eye is 424ppi. The display gives good viewing angles in low light and outdoor condition.
PerformanceHTC Desire Eye is powered by a  2.3 GHz Snapdragon 801 processor coupled with 2 GB of RAM and an Adreno 330 GPU,  won’t struggle with graphically intensive games or heavy multitasking. Over extended usage, it 16GB of internal storage of which about 12 GB is available for use. The device supports expandable storage of up to 128 GB via micro-SD card, which is helpful since many users may end up clicking lots of larger-sized images. we tried playing some high-end games we did not any lag while playing but device heats up which can be observed on the back. graphics are good while gaming. the overall gaming experience was good.
Audio is one area where HTC is doing some real groundbreaking work thanks to its BoomSound technology. It’s hard to discern the dual speakers on the Desire Eye at first glance, since HTC has let go of its usual speaker grill model and instead brought in a pair of cleverly placed strips, above and below the main display. Sound output is top-notch.we tried some benchmark apps on AnTuTu benchmark it scored 40372 which ranks below Galaxy S5 and Mi4. On Geekbench 3 it scores 962 on single core and 2857 on the multi core.

Software

Desire Eye Runs with Android 4.4.4 Kit Kat with the latest version of Sense UI ie Sense 6. A clock is present with weather information and four shortcuts on offer. Swipe left and you’ll be greeted by Blink Feed which is HTC’s answer to Flip board. The application draws in information from feeds and social networks, presents them in a visually appealing way. The overall performance of the device is smooth the device didn’t lag in between use. There come some pre-installed HTC apps such as DOT View, Kids  Mode, HTC backup also third-party applications such as Twitter, Scribble and Polaris Office 5 .  you get notifications on top which can be modified as per need. Overall software performance is smooth. We didn’t face any lag while using the phone. the software is updated to Android Lollipop

Camera

HTC Desire Eye is the dual 13MP cameras built into the svelte frame. While the rear facing 13MP module is standard fare alongside its dual tone LED flash, it is the front facing module that is rather unique. The front unit gains the same dual tone LED flash as on the rear unit and this gives it a whole new level of flexibility while shooting low light selfies or for that matter even while video calling. Long pressing the button activates burst mode and as expected, the software will automatically choose the best shot of the lot.

More important though, the subjects in the frame display odd blotches and speckles despite there being none in reality.HTC really dropped the ball here by focusing on resolution and compromising on quality. A lower resolution but better front facing camera would have certainly been appreciable than the sorry state of affairs here. Comes with various software features like Zoe, Split Capture, Pan 360, Photo Booth and a slew of filters, as well as face-beautification. You can also click photos using voice commands, which actually work pretty well on the device. Both the cameras on the Desire Eye can shoot full-HD videos at 30ps.

Connectivity & Battery Life

Connectivity options on the HTC Desire Eye supports 4G LTE/ 3G HSPA+ networks. The WiFi chip supports 802.11 a/b/g/n  Bluetooth 4.0 with apt-X codec, NFC, and GPS with GLONASS. The battery is a 2400 mAh unit which manages to deliver above average longevity despite the lowly rating. with normal use such as phone calls some net on 3G, we got back up of full day while playing games watching videos we got 17 hours of battery back up. the device takes almost 2.15 hours to charge for 0 to 100. with most of the time on 3G, text, phone calls you can get a whole day battery with 10-15 % remaining end of a day.

HTC Desire eye is good mid range smartphone with some good feature and specification.it is available in india priced at Rs 28000 which is decent buy who are looking for Good design smartphone. it comes with water resistant, viewing angles on display are good. overall performance is smooth. coming to cons there are no much cons  but battery could have been  more and performance of low light photography on front camera could be improved  via Update.
