Samsung Rollout Stable One UI 8 Update

Samsung has started rolling out the stable update of One UI 8, based on Android 16 for Galaxy S25 series. The update brings advanced multimodal AI capabilities, a UX optimized for different device form factors, and personalized, proactive suggestions.

Personalized Suggestions and Enhanced Security

One UI 8 introduces features that provide personalized and proactive suggestions based on a user’s context and daily routine. The update includes several security enhancements designed to protect private data.

  • Now Bar displays real-time app activity and media player progress on the Galaxy Z Flip’s FlexWindow, with support for more third-party apps.
  • Now Brief offers personalized daily updates on traffic, reminders, and Samsung Moments, allowing users to reflect on their routines. It also provides recommendations for music and videos based on subscriptions and interests, and integrates health data from Samsung Health and Galaxy Watch.
  • Knox Enhanced Encrypted Protection (KEEP) is a security architecture that creates encrypted, app-specific storage environments to ensure each app can only access its own sensitive information.
  • Knox Matrix automatically signs devices out of a Samsung Account if flagged for serious risks, such as system manipulation or identity forgery. It also sends notifications across connected Galaxy devices to guide users on how to protect their data.
The update incorporates post-quantum cryptography (PQC), a new cryptographic framework to strengthen network protection and enhance privacy over public networks.

Intelligent Multimodality and Cross-Form Factor Optimization

One UI 8 is powered by multimodal AI that combines visual, auditory, and contextual intelligence to streamline everyday tasks. The user experience is also optimized to adapt to various Galaxy form factors, from smartphones to tablets.

  • Gemini Live allows for communication with AI that understands what a user is seeing in real time.
  • Circle to Search with Google now provides in-the-moment gaming help by allowing users to circle an object on the screen to get more information, including helpful links and videos. Its improved translation capabilities enable real-time on-screen translation of text in a user’s preferred language.
  • AI Results View displays results from AI features, such as Writing Assist, in a separate Split View or Floating View, keeping the original content unobstructed.
  • For larger screens, Galaxy AI Optimized for Large Screens enables users to drag and drop AI-generated content directly into their workflow.
  • Gemini Live is now available on the FlexWindow for hands-free voice search.
  • Audio Eraser can detect and remove unwanted background noise from videos and audio with a single tap.
  • New customization options for the clock design allow it to adapt to the user’s wallpaper, wrapping around faces or objects to ensure visibility. Users can also customize font thickness, size, and color.
  • Users can create custom wallpapers for the FlexWindow by receiving recommendations and auto-curated options from their gallery, with customizable emojis and background colors.
  • Portrait Studio uses AI to capture pet expressions and generate artistic portraits.
  • Call Captions converts voices into text during calls, and keyboard inputs for Interpreter allow users to translate by typing.
