WhatsApp may soon let you protect your chats with a passcode

WhatsApp enabled end-to-end encryption for all its users by default, which offers better security and privacy features.company is continuing its attempts to make the app as secure as possible. According to a report by Android Authority, a future update for WhatsApp will bring a passcode lock features.

As per the report, the upcoming WhatsApp update will let you enter a six-digit passcode to secure your conversations. This feature was spotted within a WhatsApp translation program, to convert strings from English into Dutch. Phases to be translated include “Enter the current six-digit passcode.”, “Passcodes don’t match. Try again.”, and “Enter a recovery email address”. These strings indicate that the passcode feature is heading to the app soon.

The source suggests that the recovery email part may be optional, which is a way for users to recover access to their account if they accidentally lock themselves out. It’s not clear if the six-digit feature will be optional or mandatory. Also, there’s no word on whether the passcode will apply to all the conversations or if users will have different codes for separate conversations. We will let you know as and when this feature rolls out to the users, so stay tuned.
