After launching a couple of Mid-range and high-end smartphone Asus made its entry in Budget Segment.Asus launched two variant of Zenfone 2 Laser in India starting from Rs 9,999 with 2GB RAM Snapdragon 410 and with 3GB RAM, Snapdragon 615 priced at Rs 13,999 available on Flipkart. here is our review of Asus Zenfone 2 Laser Smartphone

Asus Zenfone 2 Laser design is almost similar to Zenfone 2 which was launched earlier this year. On the front, there is a 5.5 inch HD screen with Corning Gorilla Glass 4 protection and supporting 1280 x 720 pixels resolution which offers vibrant colors, good brightness levels, and wide viewing angles. It has a 5MP front-facing camera, f/2.0 aperture and 85-degree wide-angle lens, accelerometer, light, proximity, gyro and magnetic sensors, earpiece Asus branding, and notification LED.There are three capacitive touch buttons below the display. There is a micro USB port at the bottom along with a microphone.
On the top, the phone has a power/lock switch along with the 3.5mm audio jack. There are no buttons on either side of the phone that measures 152.5 x 77.2 x 10.8mm and weighs 170g.The volume rocker, however, has been moved on the back side along with a 13MP rear camera with f/2.0 aperture, Real Tone flash, Laser Auto Focus.The Zenfone branding and loudspeaker grills are present at the lower back.The phone has two micro SIM card slots and a micro SD card slot underneath the removable back cover. Build quality is very good; it’s a plastic body, bulky in the center and gets slimmer towards the edges.
Asus Zenfone 2 Laser is powered by a 1.2Ghz quad-core Snapdragon 410 processor with Adreno 306 GPU paired along provides graphic capabilities coupled with 2GB of RAM out of which almost 900MB is available on first boot. On storage, it comes with 16GB of internal storage out of which around 10.48GB is available for a user which is further expandable up to 128GB with a microSD card. we played some games and didn’t face any issues while playing overall performance of the device was satisfactory. we tried running some benchmark apps On AnTuTu the phone scores 23448 points. On Geekbench 3 phone scores 756 on a single core and 2335 on Multi core.14,108 points in the Quadrant Benchmark and 54.5 in the Nenamark 2 benchmark.
Camera
Lets talk about the most important part of Zenfone 2 laser that is camera it comes with a 13MP rear camera with Laser Auto Focus for 0.3 second focus time and dual-LED flash. a 5MP front-facing camera for selfies.The rear camera of this phone features a five-prism Largan lens and Toshiba sensors and is accompanied by a dual-tone, dual-LED flash. camera’s laser autofocus works really well getting the focus on the subject within seconds. This especially makes capturing close-ups a breeze.The dual-LED flash helps reduce the noise and does a good job in filling light. On the front, it has a 5MP front camera takes good selfies.
The camera app comes with a number of shooting modes, like Beautification, Auto, Manual, Night, Low Light, and even HDR and Depth of Field. standard automatic mode, a detailed manual mode, HDR, panorama, smart remove, GIF animation, and time lapse. Beautification mode lets you set a timer of up to 5 seconds while capturing photos; shots taken in this mode remove all imperfections from your face, and like Beauty modes in other phones, give a glazed look to the photo. However, under low light conditions, photos touched up by Beautification mode will be the best for Facebook, and Instagram. Software
Asus Zenfone 2 laser runs on Android 5.0.2 Lollipop with Asus own ZenUI on top of it. It also comes with a theme engine so you can customize the look and feel of Android on the phone.Despite the heavy customization, the interface feels very very responsive, which is a great thing. You don’t ever get the feeling that the heavily customized interface is bogging down the performance of the phone.
There are also option to change the themes.Double tap to wake up.The phone has an Easy Mode, which removes most of the UI elements and makes the phone easier to use with the help of big icons and simple layout. You can choose which apps and widgets to add on the home screen. Asus also lets you select the home screen options, the menu layout, and gives a number of themes, wallpapers, scroll effects, and icon packs when you long-press the home screen. The phone comes with Auto switch to Ultra saving mode.
There are a lot of bloatware. The number of preloaded apps is ludicrous. Overall, the interface makes the phone easy to use and even gives a large number of customization options.There are more than 10 preloaded apps and most of them are useless. Also, Asus has broken down many features that you’d expect in one app into multiple apps which make things more complicated. there is an app call ZenUI Movie app using which you can create Mini movie from the photos or videos available in the gallery.
