Asus is planning to realse two samrtwatch series the Zenwatch and Vivowatch, designed by the notebook team will handle ZenWatch R&D and the motherboard team is in charge of the VivoWatch. Asustek is hoping the internal competition will help brainstorm new innovations.
Since Asustek has been seeing its motherboard shipments and profits from the business decline during the past few years, the company has shifted most of its R&D resources into mobile product lines such as notebooks and smartphones.
To strengthen its motherboard team’s morale, Asustek has decided to let the team handle VivoWatch R&D and expects the opportunity to provide a positive influence on its businesses
