CREO is focusing a lot on the software bit, and its USP is the monthly updates. With each update, the company says that it will be introducing new features, which will give users the feeling of using a new smartphone every month. The Fuel OS looks very similar to stock Android UI, but comes with proprietary features like Sense, Echo and Retriever out-of-the-box.

Sense is essentially a search feature that lets users look for anything on the phone by double-tapping the home button. This can be done from anywhere, and the overall functionality is similar to iOS’ Spotlight feature. One of the key differences we found in Sense is its contextual search functionality. For instance, you can type recharge and it will show you apps like Paytm, Freecharge and others if you have them installed. Similarly you can type food and get options like Zomato and others.

Echo is an answering machine with a twist, and it can either respond to calls with a SMS or play your recorded voice before accepting a voice message from the caller. It isn’t connected to Internet or restricted to a particular network operator. The best part is the voice mail is stored directly on the phone and the user can access it from the call log.

Lastly, the Retriever feature works in the same way as Apple’s Find My iPhone feature. Every time you insert a SIM card there a notification will be sent to your email id. This too works without Internet connection.

CREO calls its monthly updates as Refuel, and promises that the next update is coming in on May 13. This upcoming update will bring with it new features like Photo Editor, Selfie Screen Flash, Automatic BKG Data Manager, Auto & Customizable Echo and Sense 2.0.

The smartphone is priced at Rs 19,999 and will be going on sale via the company’s official website, as well as, Flipkart. CREO’s website also offers the option to personalize the device with an engraving, which will be free for the first 2,000 buyers.
