Pocket Money

Google has started rolling out Pocket Money, enabling parents to grant their children access to digital payments with built-in supervision. Parents can do this through two flexible modes. Set a monthly limit of up to Rs. 15,000 that allows the child to spend independently within that boundary. Alternatively, they can choose to approve every transaction request initiated by the child.
While the child can pay independently, the parent retains oversight. Furthermore, the parent receives an instant notification for every transaction the child makes, ensuring they are always in the loop. Parents can track all transactions done by the child in their transaction history, and can also pause access to Pocket Money instantly from their own app.
How to use pocket money through UPI Circle works
As an existing UPI Circle user on Google Pay, you’re a Primary user and you can add family members, friends, or employees. They become a Secondary user to your UPI Circle.
- Primary user: Person who pays on behalf of the Secondary user with their bank account.
- Secondary user: A person who makes UPI payments through the Primary user’s bank account.
As a Primary user, you can set transaction limits and payment authorization. Select between full or partial delegation in UPI Circle:
- Set a monthly limit (full delegation): You can set a monthly limit of up to ₹15,000 for Secondary users. They can use your bank account to make payments within the set limit without your approval.
- Approve every payment (partial delegation): Secondary users must send you a request for each payment. You must approve to pay on their behalf.
