Reliance Jio is gearing up to commercially launch its Jio GigaFiber broadband services in India in the next few months. As with the other services, the operator plans of offering ground-breaking pricing for its broadband services without compromising on the speed. Further, the operator is said to offer the services for free for a period of 90 days.

The Jio GigaFiber broadband base plan is said to offer 15 Mbps speeds with 600 Gb data limit priced at just Rs. 500 per month. The unlimited monthly plan starts at Rs. 800. Other plans also include 60 Mbps speeds. Customers would however have to purchase a GigaFiber router which is said to be priced at Rs. 4000. Jio will also come up with plans for faster speeds than 60 Mbps starting Rs 1500. The Rs 1500 plan will offer 2000 GB data usage.

Reliance Jio is also likely to launch its fiber-backed DTH services with disruptive pricing on December 15, 2016. The service subscription will be free for the first six months as part of the Jio “Welcome Offer”. The DTH service will come in the form of a high-speed optical fibre – pushing speeds up to 1 Gbps.

Earlier in September, Jio had commenced its JioFiber trials in Chennai and had started inviting residents of societies to participate in its fiber home broadband tests, according to reports. JioFiber test invites posted by recipients on Facebook read, “At Jio we are really excited about introducing this amazing service and making your Society one of the first in India to Go Digital with our Ultra-Fast Broadband service.”

Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani, while announcing the launch of 4G services in September, had said that FTTH service will push the power of data even further, and will offer data speeds up to 1 Gigabit per second. “This is on par with the most advanced wireline offerings anywhere in the world,” he had said.

The 4G entrant will also extend this optical fiber network to enterprise locations and will provide multi-gigabit per second enterprise-grade wireline data connections to enterprises in these cities.
