HTC is working on two Nexus phones for Alphabet (formerly known as Google) which will be released later this year. Now, a new rumor has surfaced, stating that HTC and Alphabet have signed on an agreement which will allow HTC to build Nexus phone for three years.
HTC and Google had a close relationship back when Android was first released, but HTC has only build one Nexus phone and one Nexus tablet for the Nexus program since the original Nexus One was released in January of 2010.
Nexus devices have never been hot sellers, but the close partnership between the OEMs and Google has proven to be beneficial, allowing Samsung and LG to move from sideline Android manufacturers to being industry leaders. Hopefully the three-year Nexus partnership with Alphabet will allow HTC to gain some momentum and reclaim its place as one of the most respected and sought-after smartphone manufacturers.
