Windows 10 Mobile hasn’t officially rolled out to consumer devices yet, but we’re already seeing some documentation about the end-of-life treatment for the latest mobile operating system from Microsoft.

Leaked document is a short table describing both Windows 10 Mobile for Business and Consumer and relates that the lifecycle started a few weeks ago on November 16, followed immediately on the document by the mainstream support end date, which is January 1, 2019. The document also gives a paragraph to describing the type of updates Windows 10 Mobile will receive, and that the minimum duration for updates is 36 months.

Windows 10 Mobile life cycle

Microsoft will make updates available for the Operating System, including security updates, for a minimum of 36 months after the lifecycle start date. These updates will be incremental, with each update built on the update that preceded it. Customers need to install each update in order to remain supported. The distribution of these incremental updates may be controlled by the mobile operator or the phone manufacturer from which you purchased your phone, and installation will require that your phone have any prior updates. Update availability will also vary by country, region, and hardware capabilities.
