Google is already working on Pixel 2 series smartphones which will launch later this year now according to new report Walleye and Muskie are the codenamed of the two Pixel smartphones which are in works.
Google is again going with fish codenames as Walley and Muskie are types of fish. Walley being small in size could be the base variant of next generation Pixel while Muskie is large in size and hence could be the bigger variant of Pixel.The report says it has garnered this information from several of their sources, with references to “walleye” already being found in AOSP.
Pixel 2 will be waterproof, a feature that is present on most flagships and was missing on the original Pixel. The Pixel 2 will likely be IP67- or IP68-rated, allowing for water submersion up to 1 to 1.5 meters for 30 minutes.
It is expected to be powered by Snapdragon 835 chip and the company is said to focus further on camera on the successor to improve low-light photography. The Pixel 2 is said to priced at $699. Google is also said to be working on a budget smartphone but it will not have the Pixel branding.
