Moto G 2016 series includes two variants Moto G4 and Moto G4 Plus, Moto G4 Plus comes with a Fingerprint scanner on front whereas Moto G4 lacks a fingerprint scanner. Design & Display
Moto G4 Plus comes with a 5.5-inch Display which is large as compared to last year’s G3. On the front, there is speaker grill which works as earpiece and front facing camera. below the display, we have a Fingerprint Scanner which does work as the Home button. On the side, we have Metal frame with rounded edges.
On the top, there is 3.5 mm audio jack coming to right we have the power button and volume rockers on the Right, micro USB port is on the bottom, there is nothing on left.On Back there is a 16-megapixel camera with dual-tone LED flash, PDAF, Laser auto-focus and Moto logo.On the back, we have a plastic back that has a textured pattern on it similar to Moto G3 but Not curved this time we have a flat back panel which is removable. the phone weighs 155 grams.build quality of the device is good still Moto G series missing Metal body design which we have seen in Honor 5X, Le1s and Redmi Note 3 which is priced below Moto G4 Plus.
Coming to display Moto G4 Plus has a 5.5-inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) Full HD display with Corning Gorilla glass 3 protection which is improved compared to 720P Display on Moto G3 Display performance in Sunlight legibility is very good and the display manages to produce good colors and Viewing angles in both indoor as well as outdoor conditions. The device can be used in single hand doesn’t feel heavy in hand.
Performance
Moto G4 Plus is powered by a 1.5GHz Octa-Core Snapdragon 617 processor with Adreno 405 GPU paired with 2GB/3GB of RAM and 16GB/32GB of internal storage which is further expandable up to 128GB with microSD card, Out of 32GB around 25GB & 1GB of RAM available for the ser on first boot . Snapdragon 617 performed well in most of departments , we played some high end games like asphalt 8, GTA 5 all games run well while playing games for more than 15 minutes we notice devices getting heat up temperature crossed around 45 degree .if u are heavy gamer Moto G4 Plus is not a smartphone for you , we tried running some benchmark apps On AnTuTu Benchmark phone scores 46419 points , On Geekbench 3 phone scores 3006 in multi core and 712 on single core.On Quadrant phone score 25270 points , overall performance of device fast we haven’t notice any lag only issue was device gets warm while using for long times , Lenovo should have used Snapdragon 650 SoC instead of SD 617 .
Camera
Moto G4 Plus comes with 16MP rear camera with dual-tone LED flash,f/2.0 aperture, Laser AF and 5MP front facing camera with OmniVision OV5693 sensor,. also comes 84-degree wide-angle lens which let you takes some good selfies .Camera is one of main highlight of new Moto G4 Plus dual autofocus system, a now-perfunctory Phase Detection Autofocus (PDAF) system, along with a rare-in-this-price-bracket laser focus assistant, both of which function to reliably find subjects near or far in any measure of lighting conditions, Images captured in both indoors as well as outdoor produces good images camera performed well even in low light conditions. Camera app is similar to what we have seen in Moto G series phone there is also manual mode which really comes in handy when shooting in low light as it lets you adjust the focus, white balance, shutter speed, ISO and exposure compensation. The ISO range is from 100-3200 while maximum shutter speed is 1/5sec. Slow-motion video is fixed at 120fps at 540p resolution. Overall camera performance is improved lot compared to last year Moto G3 .Only issue is when we use camera for more than 10 min the device gets heat up and camera app doesn’t work properly. check out camera samples below
Software
Coming to the software, the phone runs on Android 6.0.1 out of box Motorola devices get pure stock Android experience. It has Google Now launcher as default.Apart from the usual set of Google apps, it has Motorola Migrate that lets you migrate media, call, text messages and SIM contact from your old phone or move these from this phone to a new phone. It also has Moto app This has Assist, Actions and Display. Assist is the usual Moto Assist with Meeting and Sleeping actions.Moto G4 Plus has Quick Capture,Chop twice for flashlight and Moto Display feature Quick Capture allows Instantly launch the camera by twisting your wrist twice. Twist twice again and switch to the front camera. Flick your wrist twice quickly to launch the flashlight and repeat to turn it off. No need to unlock your phone or take off your gloves to get the light that you need.Software is really fast we have not face any issue or lag while using the device
Connectivity
On Connectivity Moto G4 Plus comes with a 4G LTE with VoLTE, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS , Dual SIM device supports Both nano SIM card and microSD card slot which supports MicorSD cards up to 128GB .Moto G4 Plus comes with single front facing speaker which works as earpiece output from front speaker is good loud and clear also call quality is good.
Moto G4 Plus is first smartphone in Moto G series to support fingerprint scanner which works as only Fingerprint scanner not as Home button , Fingerprint scanner is fast and accurate.
Battery
G4 Plus has a 3000 mAh non- removable battery which is able to deliver 14-15 hours of battery life on heavy use like WiFi Mobile date, Gaming, Social networks, listing Music . On normal use you can get more than One day of battery life .Moto G4 Plus comes with Turbo charge which company says 15 minutes charge can give 6 hours of battery backup . It takes 2 hours to charge device from 5-100% , Battery backup is good compared to last year Moto G3.
Moto G4 Plus at Rs 14999 offers latest version of Android a fingerprint sensor, a good camera for photography,all-day battery life ,fast processor . No water and dust protection in Moto G4 Plus which was available in last year G3 , Overheating issue while playing games for more than 10 minutes, Plastic design. Someone looking for decent budget smartphone with a Good camera, Display , latest updates Moto G4 Plus is good option.but if someone you are looking for gaming phone Moto G4 Plus is not a good value for money, Xiaomi Redmi 3 , LeEco le 1s, Meizu m3 Note are other options available under Rs 15000 with Metal Build
