One reason to believe that Nougat will not be available for the phone has to do with the dated chipset that drives it. The Snapdragon 801 SoC is a few generations old, and is known for powering former flagship models like the HTC One (M8) and the LG G3. The version of Android 7.0 being tested on the phone is not an official release.Taken from the AOSP source by XDA member updating, almost everything was working on the ROM back then except for the video camera and the stock keyboard.
